MILAN DIARY

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

This journey was planned about a year prior to the actual trip- it all began when I heard that there is a summer program in Domus Academy, Milan. I was super excited as this was my first ever international trip that too with my best friend.

We discussed everything from food items, to clothes, medicines, footwear, make up, and even how much money to carry. We even went a little extra to get our visas on time :P (that i shall not discuss)

So, we flew from New Delhi in Etihad airways. We had one stop in Abu Dhabi and after 12 hours of journey we reached Milan.

After reaching our apartment we had to rush to the college for registration and confirmation. Since I wanted to explore I decided along with my friends to walk all the way from college to home (shows the excitement level).

I went straight to Doumo & just loved the whole vibe and atmosphere. I loved that place so much that I used to go there almost everyday. I just love the European architecture, buildings and spaces.

My day 1 at college was interesting- we had a small welcoming party in the evening too. I tasted a fish burger thinking its veg and vodka thinking its a watermelon juice :p

Just next to the academy was a cafe which made the most delicious pizza i had in Italy.

This used to be my college lunch and dinner :P

(ready to cook Indian food along with bread and maggi etc)

Its is surprising that even after going to duomo everyday- I used to find new things to explore.

I love these places:

Amsterdam chips, Frankly- for shakes and drinks, Spontini- for pizza, Cioccolati Italiani- best pancakes, waffles and ice creams (all these are near duomo) and I even found one candy shop from which I got two large bags full of candies :)

Porta venezia - street looks pretty and have lots of indian restaurants. If you are craving for Indian found then try this place.

And Porta Nuova- its like new Milan where I visited 10 Corso Como which is a concept store. Its a store which sells unique collection of products. These products are pulled from different brands and designers, they cover various segments like fashion, beauty, homeware etc. The elements are presented beautifully. They have exhibitions, library, cafe, and gallery which helps in building a community for the people who have similar lifestyle.

I had one weekend on which I visited two different places- Comogli in Genoa and Lake Como.

1. Comogli

Its a pebble beach which was simply beautiful. I took a train from Milan to genoa (which was a pretty journey. (Video)

From the station one had to climb down a lot of stairs and through the town came the beach.

2. Lake Como

So, I actually missed my train to Venice- so the closest place I could go was Lake Como. It was an accidental trip as I literally lost my way in there. It was difficult to communicate as people hardly knew english and I had no clue where I was. But people were very helpful and somehow I found my way.

Everything was very beautiful especially the campus.

And then I completed the program, Yayyiee!

Following are few clips from Italy.

Have a great day!
